I took out all non-lowland riders. Took out the youngsters. Took out Boonen's right hand guys Cretskens and Hulsmans.

I added in Vasseur, a non-lowlands rider as far as a know, thought traditional Flanders does encompass modern day France. (some of)

I just knew Van Impe had come along slowly, and came from a famous cycling family. And left the guys in I did not know much about.

I pegged it for Tankink, with a very pissed off Bauet and Vasseur, because those guys will probably get fingered too in the internal witch hunt. ironic. Hunting the whistle blower, and not the doper.

Hulsmans seems the obvious choice. He's been on the team for seven seasons.

Why would Lance need a mole on QS? Or Phonak, for that matter. Pro-Lance, Anti-Lance. Maybe science will discover the Lance gene so we can get a treatment for this affliction.

I don't think Hulsmans or Cretskends because both are on the "A" team for the big races, and Hulsmans is Boonen's best mate.

I think the phrase "Bill Clinton of the peloton" conveys an idiosyncrasy from the author. I don't think this turn of phrase would be used by most continental professionals. I think this is something Bram Tankink would say, his reputation precedes him and unlike Zabriskie, the guy genuinely has the dry wit.
