AFLD says it found "incongruous" product use at the TdF.
But, we all know it was a clean tour, right? http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/afld-says-...uring-2009-tour |

AFLD says it found "incongruous" product use at the TdF. But, we all know it was a clean tour, right? http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/afld-says-...uring-2009-tour Incongruous? Incongruous? France? Maybe they should check out Quebec for incongruous (icity/ness?). Oops, that is almost political. My bad. Maybe the "surprising therapeutic arsenal"Was more along Boy Scout preparedness in case a fan or someone in the next country fell ill and they were the closest medical respondent. After all, the cycling teams really, really care what the fans think about drugs and these are 'good' drugs. Right? They need cancer drugs like EPO, because they are fighting cancer. Nothing incongruous there, right? Newer cancer drugs like CERA mean that they are just staying on top of things. They want to make sure that they can help people with the very best that modern science can offer. The teams ar probably better equipped for diabetics, hypertensives, ADHD sufferers, cancer patients than any hospital in Europe. We can only hope that they will be able to quickly move to genetic manipulators to spread their aid further. They are experts at drug and blood transportation to even the remotest parts of the globe. Even the military could use their consult as they are expert at keeping these valuable medicines away from the enemy. Nothing incongruous there. This is a humanitarian cause that underscores the best of what we are. Please note that this post is in jest (!) and is hoping to poke fun at the use of big words for a small part of this very large problem. Dave. -------------------- Lance Led, Floyd Followed.

Thanks for the link. Related to the AFLD UCI squabble thread, I noticed this:
QUOTE AFLD President Pierre Bordry stated that he had "signalled this [the discoveries] to the World Anti-Doping Agency as soon as July", but Olivier Rabin, science director at WADA, denied receiving the information when asked by AFP in September. AFLD seems to be having a spot of trouble getting the word through... -------------------- "The Look" = "My EPO is better than your EPO!"

I can't wait for the commemorative yellow six-pack...as a designer, I find it satisfying when the outside reflects what's on the inside. "fightin' cancer with every "beer" you chug"...I just invented a new drinking game...anyone wanna play? Damn you guys. You both beat me to this. And, can you believe the great tie-in to incongruity? There should be a picture in the dictionary of Prance's sitting on the beer cooler. It is absolutely clear why our yellow-streaked friend would get on the beer wagon: From Wikipedia (first line!):As carcinogens go, alcohol is a perforance enhancer! After all, alcohol influenced (i.e. sped up) tumor volume doubling time (TVDT)Got cancer? Joe Six Pack to the rescue. Hey, and don't forget, beer bottles can also be used for spittin' tobacco into. ...Joe Lindsey got his dig in as well. Although he didn't draw any booze and cancer links. Perhaps 'drinking low-cal beer' could be added to the list of Livestrong dares: http://www.livestrong.com/dares/ |

How could a team be so stupid as to not hide their evidence, er, "medical waste"? Were they counting on the trash collectors to not turn it in for examination? Guess the UCI or somebody didn't pay enough protection $$$.

You'd think you'd have someone drive that garbage bag to a different company and then leave in a dumpster at a gas station or something... So is UCI going to claim some invasion of privacy or something? Certainly all those needles and stuff were for the b-12 that makes them all go so fast. |

The war of words begins:
http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianp...XBelv1wYBr6f4XQ "...The UCI's report singled out agency president Pierre Bordry for particular criticism, calling him "mischievous and misinformed," and having "abused his position" to undermine cycling..." Good to see everyone pulling together on this one. Deja vu all over again. In January 2004, Le Monde quoted Pound as saying that "the public knows that the riders in the Tour de France and the others are doping." This prompted a strongly-worded rebuke from Lance Armstrong, who called Pound's comments "careless and unacceptable."Perhaps the UCI gets its statements from the same generous contributor to their 'doping' efforts. But, fear not, the same article cited above also observes: "The UCI is aware of at least three other major international federations who have experienced significant problems working with AFLD," it said.Sticks and stones. Could these others be tennis, futbol, and athletics? Or, just simply horse racing given the pedigree of some notorious dopers like Sainz who jacked the ponies and the pedalers? Dave. I think the UCI manages to shatter its own reputation quite nicely all by itself, with McQuaid's ridiculous statements about how cycling is now clean when legions of known doping facilitators are thriving right under his nose. That the AFLD has difficult relations with sports federations whose main goal is to treat doping as a PR nuisance is only a positive statement as to their commitment to clean sport. |
