thanks to both of you special people for the good wishes for my birthday.

i remember fondly many chat room and off-line conversations with both of you (and of course many others) over the years.

janna -- can you believe that it has been NINE years since we first began corresponding -- benj's accident was NINE years ago today. many thanks for all the listening and other caring that you did. today he is a husband of 3 1/2 years and has a 6 1/2 month old baby girl! he is no longer racing (in part due to the accident) but he still rides AND is an RN at a local hospital.

NBOL -- give my regards to the GOLDEN Hurricane. Thanks for the conversations/posts/emails over the years.

So how many guys have to come out and admit doping, while having had a career without being caught/convicted during competition before we all realize that the sport and the control system is as corrupt as the guys they are trying to catch. Yes they got him after he retired but it was on information they had and failed to use while he was competing. Frankly (while fascinated) I am tired of this sport trying to catch anyone from the past when it appears they chose to overlook it when it was the present. They really need to close the book on the past and work on cleaning up their own act for there to be a brighter future.

I've been away from cycling for a while so this comment has absolutely NO HIDDEN REFERENCES OR IMPLICATIONS regarding any current or former riders, BUT . . .

perhaps focusing so much on the past allows the powers that be to avoid focusing on the present.

I am just reminded of the following mantra from when i facilitated TQM sessions:

    wrong things done right

    right things done right

    wrong things done wrong

    right things done wrong
