Ridiculous article -- raises way more questions than it answers. What exactly was Kessler's negative influence on T-Mobile? Funny this grievance should be aired in the open now that the brain damaged Kessler can't defend himself.

I had thought the same thing - more than one guy citing Kessler as the main rotten apple.
Klödi probably wouldn't agree, I think they are good friends and were training together at the time of Matze's crash.
I had forgotten about his condition, is he badly damaged?
In Vino veritas, 1998-2011.

Yes, they were training together. Kessler went head first into a wall without a helmet. I have looked periodically for info since the accident, but have only seen this:

Google translation:
Seven months after a serious training accident, the Matthias Kessler suffered in January [2010] on Majorca, the Frankish professional cyclist remains under medical care. But he is on the mend. The stage winner of the Tour de France 2006, whose family for several days after the accident, feared for his life, attended with enormous ambition and great patience continues to be a comprehensive rehabilitation program.

At five days per week while Kessler is cared for in the outpatient rehabilitation clinic of the Nuremberg Südklinikums, said in March started in Heidelberg special rehabilitation program will continue.

Kessler can now walk again without assistance, although he still can not be left when all bend. A major handicap is still his left arm, which can not use it. But show up after each therapy hour here first little progress.
Progress on the tricycle

"I feel most comfortable when I'm traveling by bicycle," says the native villages Herper, who drives almost daily walk to a special tricycle. He fixed his left foot in the pedal travel with a hook, avoid slipping. "We are very hopeful that Matthew will continue to make progress and are excited about every little improvement," say the parents. Kessler's greatest wish: "I hope to soon be back on a normal bike with friends."
