Hello friends old and new,

A couple of topics to cover here. First, apologies for the forum availability interruption, and sorry for not catching it sooner (thanks to NBOL for the alert).

Second, you may have noticed no posts from Vaughn recently. He developed a health problem two weeks ago that has required hospital care. He is all right but I am not sure how soon he will be back. I know I can count on you to send good thoughts his way which can do nothing but speed his recovery. :)

Thanks for reading.

Regards,
Janna

Goddess Janna, (forget this "Former" BS)

Thanks for taking the initiative in getting us back up and running. While the crowds here may not be what the used to be, I missed getting to talk to the loyal remaining group.

Positive thoughts go out for Vaughn's swift recovery and getting back on his bike and in the editing chair.

Janna and others. I was going crazy on the weekend trying to post and kept getting "account suspended" and when I tried to email via another way, got a return from postmaster that email didn't go through.

Sorry to hear about Vaughn, I do hope we'll be hearing from him soon and my best wishes go out to him. So, I'll be back to posting. I was not logging on for about 2 months cause life is life, but we're getting closer to some of my favourite races so I'll be trying to post during select stages of the Giro (from Italian Rai internet feed to English). Keeps the gray matter on it's toes....

I didn't see this before now...woe to me. Very sorry to hear about Vaughn, and my sincerest well-wishes to him and a speedy recovery!! And thank you for taking care of the DPF in the meantime Janna!
War. War never changes. The end of the world occurred pretty much as we had predicted: Too many humans, not enough space or resources to go around. The details are trivial and pointless, the reasons, as always, purely human ones.

Hi All,

Most of you do not know me, but my name is Luke Allingham, I am a newer part of the DailyPeloton.com staff writers. Vaughn had a stroke several weeks ago and has been recovering ever since. I talked to him Tuesday on the phone and I am now writing to share an update with you all.

Vaughn said he is doing well, but he is often tired. He and I had about 1/2 hour phone conversation and from my judgments he has progressed well. He does have points where he confuses words or gets lost in the conversation, but overall I will say that he followed the conversation well yesterday and seemed to know who he was talking to and what the conversation was about. Unfortunately this is the only update that I have as of now, but I plan to contact him once again sometime next week, and hopefully I will have another update on him to share.

All best,

Luke

Hi Jayhawk,

Sorry I didn't see your post on the updates on Vaughn earlier. Since my original post, I have talked to Vaughn on the phone multiple times; each time I can tell he improves. He continues to improve on his memory, speech, putting words into good context, etc. Once again it is unknown when or if he will return to Daily Peloton. If he does then most likely he will not return to the same position that he was before.

Any other information that you would like to know?

Thanks very much, Luke. Please let Vaughn know we're all cheering for him and wish him the best. Tell him best of luck to his Tour de France favorite too!

Not a problem. He called me just yesterday morning after the Tour prologue, he sounded very well. Next time I talk to him I will be sure to pass on the message from you and the others. Unfortunately, I don't believe that Vaughn has a TDF favorite, he didn't quite know that the Tour started yesterday and doesn't know who the top favorites riders are. He has been out of the cycling loop since late February.
