According to CN, ALex Rasmussen has been fired by HTC, and dropped from the Denmark team for missed doping tests (like his namesake in years gone by). According to the Danish federation, Rasmussen was suspended because he has missed three doping controls over the past 18 months and had received two warnings form Anti Doping Denmark and one from the UCI.
He is currently riding the Tour of Britain, so likely not to start today's stage.
Wonder what JV will do as he had signed for Garmin for 2012?

Rasmussen fired for missed tests ...maybe it's in the name?

Crying shame ... don't see how a talented and seemingly intelligent young rider can let such a thing happen. No doubt he'll have all kinds of excuses like MR

I'm shocked that he would be so indifferent to the consequences of missed dope controls. It's not like he didn't know what could happen. What's going on with his head?

Well it won't be wearing a helmet on the streets of Copenhagen in 10 days time, that much is for sure.

Talented, certainly. Intelligent... not. It's pure dumb stupidity.
As one commenter noted on a Danish forum - Mørkøv was always the brains in that outfit. Rasmussen has always lacked the discipline and work ethic of the former - it's why, despite massive talent, we are still waiting for his big breakthrough. Now it looks like we will wait a lot longer - if it ever happens. Words do not suffice to express how annoying this is.

Reading some of the posts on the CN Forum, it seems that Rasmussen is seen to be a bit of a slob and incredibly disorganised. No one is surprised that he was capable of forgetting to tell people where he was, though no one believes for as second that he could have doped because of his laziness. He'd probably have turned up at a race with a needle still sticking out of his arm.
