Stage one is off, and I'm watching it on Universal Sports. I am both excited to actually finally have Universal Sports Available to me, and irritated at the gray bars on the side since it isn't in HD. There is no pleasing me.

Leopard-Trek leave the start house. The question is, What percentage of the time will FC spend pulling the other 8 around the course?

So who else had trouble out of the start ramp besides Lampre? I've been stuck in the kitchen & couldn't see.

What percentage is "most"?

So glad you've got Universal on TV. Wish it were in high def, but beggars can't be choosey!

I missed the stage but I see from the results that Geox ended up last on the stage. Was there any reason for that (mechanicals etc) or were they just slow? Also, Menchov finished towards the rear, was that because he was doing most of the pulling or did he appear to be struggling?

It is hard to actually say from watching it. Most of the coverage on TV was either of the starting ramp or of the finish line. There was surprising little coverage of the riders actually riding. Blanco fell at the turnaround, but I don't think that slowed them down enough to account for the finish position. His crash was no where as bad as the Nuyens crash. In general I think they were just slow.

Cycling News on their ticker reported that Cav got back to the team and finished with them. Obviously from looking at the results that was not the case.

Sport Director Matxin said after the race, “The fall inevitably broke our rhythm and cost the team precious seconds – at least 20-25 seconds. It’s a shame because in the times registered before and after the fall, the team was making good time. The guys had the legs to score closer times to Katusha and Euskaltel.”

Not to mention that a team of essentially high mountain climbers (only 2-3 out of 9 are fair ITT-ists) couldn’t count on much in the TTT like that.

If Matxin is right it would score GEOX around top 10.
Thanks
