Is there some advantage to adding someone as a Friend, other than just letting them know you appreciate their contributions to the forum? Their are several people on this board who I consider as much a friend as anyone that you have only meet on the internet can be, but I've never used the feature.

Unrelated to NBOL's question, but probably a good fit, what about the star rating for posters? Some of those ratings look well deserved, others not so sure.

Click on a poster's name, and on the right you will see between 0 and 5 stars lit up.

Thanks crocket, I finally found them. So now I'm curious at how those are developed as well. I've never seen a place for posters to rate another poster, and everytime I have tried to rate an actual post it tells me I have already reached my quota of votes for the day.

After playing a little bit, you can rate a user at the same place you see their rating. Just click on the stars. I just upped your rating a little.

I just "five starred" both of you guys. Team toto has to stick together. I am wondering how the stars relate to the "user's reputation" . . . for which, as far as I can tell, everyone has a "0".

EDIT: I just went and hit up Burkni too, poor guy was languishing with four stars (how is that possible?).

It looks like most of ITT is carrying 5 stars. Perhaps it is like the cobbled sections at P-R. Shag you are Arenberg, I am Carrefour de l'Arbre.

Burkni and Buddy look to be the only two guys carrying less than 5 stars (both are at 4). I can understand why Burkni is 4, he spewed ash all over Europe and surely caused the cancellation of certain member's flights. But what did Buddy ever do?

You have to go to the user profile page. Just click on someones name. I just checked you, and as was to be expected, you are 5 star material.

Cool, Rake is going to glue his five stars to a badge and then go into McDonalds and boss people around!

As opposed to a normal Saturday, when Rake does the same thing with a smiley faced badge on his chest.

Not for a good few decades. The only badge Rake wears on a Saturday these days is one to the races

I'm not sure of all the benefits but one is that you can carry on a "converstaion" with a friend by posting messages back and forth. Its like opening up a separate forum that you share.
I haven't had time to look at all the features of the new program.
As a result I'm nto sure what or how the star rating is created.
