And
The IOC said in a statement it was pleased with the decision and can now award the silver medal to Switzerland's Fabian Cancellara, who finished third in Beijing
Another miracle medal goes to someone surrounded by fallen dopers?

Placing attention on Cancellera in this instance isn't exactly fair. Regardless of what the IOC does with that silver medal, I would imagine he still considers himself the bronze medal winner.

Ok with that?

Didn't want to start new Rebellin thread...but he's back racing after his ban for doping during the Olympics and WON a race the Tre Valle Varesine beating Domenico Pozzovivo (Colnago - CSF Inox) and Thibaut Pinot (FDJ). Nibali with Liquigas animated the race earlier but they fizzled out at the end. At 40 years of age, Rebellin has returned to the peloton "with something still to prove". In recent weeks he was close to victory at Trofeo Matteotti & G.P. Citta di Camaiore.
Whew...still thinking about doping and Rebellin and winning all in one thought....

Makes you wonder what he may have been on during his magical year, and what, unfortunately, a 40 year old with a tainted past may still be on.

We have seen twilight riders disproportionately get tagged on doping tests; the economics of it incentivizes them. If, as a speculative presumption, he knows he needs to be on something to make a difference, if he is caught again, it would not be a great loss, as was on his way out anyway due to age. This is not taking in consideration the ethical dynamics, just following the money.

Interesting enough... Rebellin still protests he is innocent.
Whether an error was made or not (possible?) He's done his time and been doing an impressive job in these Italian late summer classics which are used to make the selection for the azzuri team for the worlds.

Davide also won the Trofeo Melinda -Val di Non on Saturday

The report is here:
http://www.dailypelo...le.asp?pk=19203
Davide Rebellin,
"I came back after two years of silence and work with more anger and more desire than before - said Rebellin. I claim my innocence and the right to look ahead, working again for young people. I am Forty years, but I do not feel them. "
