Steve! Tire width from a Silver! icon_up.gif Well done, man. But what gives with letting some peach-fuzz 18 year old kid from Colorado beat you by seconds? J/K!

Talking with Vaughn, that HAD to be a PR for him. It may even be a WR for his age-group. I'm not sure where to look that up, however. Still, at that speed, you can literally hear the air being displaced as a bike and rider rip through it. I remember hearing such a thing (it sounds like fabric being torn) at the USOC trials in 200 on Turn 2 at the Superdrome.

Allez, Steve!

Wow, looks like Phinney really ripped it!
What a great rider and a great ride!

cyclingnews:
Phinney clocked a winning time of 1:03.208 to best silver medalist Jimmy Watkins (Momentum Cycling) by more than two seconds, while Stephen Hill (East Point Track Club) finished third.

Roger must have let some air out of his tires..... ohmy.gif

I was gonna drive over today, but decided to cruise by tomorrow. Sorry I missed your ride Steve. Nice result.

Check out the pics of Steve. http://www.cyclingnews.com/track.php?id=/p...USAnationals081.

How about that podium picture? I'm no coach, but I don't think lack of quadricep muscle mass is something Steve needs to worry about! ohmy.gif

Hi guys,

Thanks for following. I got silver in the match sprints, but it was costly - I went down hard in the 2nd ride of the final. Broken rib, fractured sternum and a pulmonary contusion that is bleeding into my lung. I think I'll be on injured reserve for a while...

The fun part is they're not sure if they are going to let me fly home with the lung problem. Great! Trapped in Los Angeles.

Good grief! 'Get better soon' doesn't sound enough here. Don't catch a cold, control your laughter (I know that's hard during elections) and courage for the next few weeks. I hope the healing goes well, and this will just be a bad memory for you very soon.

Keeping order is a crutch for those too lazy to search for things.

Hey Steve, what's the deal with being beat by a guy with thighs that are half the size as yours? The guy is a freak but I thought he would look a little more like Chris Hoy.

Good ride. I hope you recover quickly.

Great rides!

Yes, on a serious note, I would NOT get on a plane with that condition, you could drop a lung, and you do NOT want to have a pneumothorax. Speaking as someone who once had a non-traumatic pneumothorax.
Get an opinion form a pulmonologist...catch a cab. Whatever.

Good luck healing!

Already did, I'm good to go. 12-hour x-ray was already showing marked improvement, and I have the OK to fly tomorrow.

Awesome, and good to hear that you're back on the bike. You'll be blowin' and goin' plenty soon.
