Penguin's team currently consists of 6 sprinters and 1 TTer and 30pts left. Penguin is very tempted to submit a partial team this year...

Don't forget Bala Verde for purposes of filling out those rosters on the cheap!

Ooooh - Penguin thanks Shag for the tip. He had forgotten about that. So make that 6 sprinters, 1 TTer, and 1 doper on Penguin's squad!

Brice Feilleu is another cheapie (30 pts.) ... assuming he lines up.

That said, Shag is likely fielding a partial team. Looks like eight riders at the moment. :o

While he isn't a sprinter remember that Valverde is a zero pointer this season.

Matthew Llyod is also a zero point rider. Might get a few KOM points.

NBOL currently sits needing 4 riders with 1441 points to spend. He already has both of the zero point riders on his team. NBOL is seriously considering adding Cancellara and going with a 9 man team since that would leave him with only 9 points and the cheapest rider available costing 20.

With the first three stages in Belgium, Gilbert is a must have.

Also, please note that Piti is zero points. Posted Image

No matter what you call him he is Zero points.

Gilbert however is 3168 points. They would need to have the entire tour in Belgium on classics courses for him to be a must have for NBOL. NBOL is having real trouble getting a full team without the most expensive rider available.

NBOL is down to needing 3 riders with 1125 points to spend.

After his performance last year, NBOL would take Froome @ 779 if NBOL thought there was any chance that there wouldn't be a bungee cord running directly from his saddle to Wiggo's handlebars for most of the race. :o

Shag sees the two big questions as: (1) Sagan vs. Cav; and (2) Wiggins vs. Evans. Really on the fence w/r/t Sagan/Cav ... on the other, would pretty easily go with Evans, except that he's quite a bit more expensive, which turns it into a toss-up. If Shag can get past this choice, the rest of the team will fall into place pretty nicely.

Vandenbergh out for Omega with his continuing problem of a saddle sore, Martin Velits replacing him.

VdB just found out that he will be attending the prologue in Liège in a much-maligned (by him) VIP area! Courtesy of a friend's business relations. He will make sure to check everyone else's teams before he leaves, so he can arrange some 'accidents' to the big riders he didn't pick. So if you see a madman jump over a VIP area barrier and punch Cav in the liver, you'll know who it is!!

(pray that this doesn't actually happen or ITT will all immediately assume it was VdB)

With his last 1155 points, NBOL can't decide if he wants to go:

lower first tier sprinter - Farrar
second tier TTer - ZMan
fill in the points - Feillu

or

Second tier GC - Froome
Second tier TTer - Grabsch
Fill in the points - Astarloza or Feillu

Another option NBOL has considered is taking the second line up but replacing Grabsch with toughman/hero - Hoogerland just because.

If there was a stage that was a barbed wire obstacle course it would make the decision easier.

It it makes it any easier for NBOL, Penguin isn't touching Farrar with a ten-foot pole. This could potentially mean he finally has his breakthrough TdF and wins everything (or crumbles away like he did at the Giro).

Shag could always do the following:
Cav
Sagan
Wiggins
Evans
650pt climber or sprinter
