NBOL has filled in his roster from VdB's list. VdB need not apologize to NBOL for anything. NBOL's spreadsheet has never had any analysis in it, but is merely a listing of the start lists for a race, so that people don't have to go through the entire WP list to pick a team. NBOL is a little sorry that he didn't have enough points available to put Big George on his classics team just for sentimental reasons. NBOL doesn't expect him to do anything, but likes to follow his failures nether the less. NBOL contends that George still holds the record for the longest distance traveled without handlebars. Granted is was NOT that long a distance, and it certainly wasn't graceful.

Very helpful, thank you VdB! Crockett has put together his first crack at a team. After putting Gilbert on the team, maneuvering was quite tough. Agonizing decision on Boonen vs Ballan. Crockett decided that Haussler was too expensive to be an automatic pick for all ITT teams.

Penguin apologizes for being so quiet lately but he has been off training on a secret beach for the past week. Penguin thanks VdB for the helpful info and asks the captain if this will be the prize for a ITT overall win (as seen in his local beer store - yes, that is a 3L bottle):

Penguin also anticipates a good season from himself and from guidemd as he also found this at the same beer store and will share it with guidemd tomorrow in lieu of crappy chocolate and flowers...

PBP, is the price tag on that beer $39.99? If so, crockett hopes you left the store carrying that bottle! The closest liquor store has a 6L bottle of Duvel, which is priced at $199.99, ICRC.

Slow down, Burkni. PBP is purchasing the beer and giving it away. Not consuming himself. At least the gift is within the house so that he can get a few sips.

Sadly no - this is Canada. The original price may have been $39.99 but after all taxes are added on, it was $99.99. The triple hop however was on sale for $19.99.

100 dollars for a big bottle of Duvel?! Sweet Jesus Salvatore Commesso! VdB can't say how much that bottle costs exactly here, but he knows the price of a single (33 CL) bottle of Duvel in a regular supermarket and that's around 1-1.50 €. One can get a six-pack for around 5 €. Let's assume that one pays more because of the kick-ass huge bottle, so VdB thinks it's not more than 20-30 € here.

VdB did a quick price check on the prize he is offering for the overall winner this year, and it appears that a Westvleteren 12 is going for around 25 dollars a bottle atm (postage excluded). He wouldn't mind searching for the 3L bottle Penguin suggested, but he's afraid that may become a problem to send on long-distance mail trips! Crockett is a witness to its dangers...although VdB could have done with a 'breakable' warning on the package, in hindsight.

VdB should probably send PM's out to former and current team members that haven't been heard from yet. After all the WP seasons starts in only 2 weeks! Crockett, is ms. Crockett participating? If so, do you need to team code?
War. War never changes. The end of the world occurred pretty much as we had predicted: Too many humans, not enough space or resources to go around. The details are trivial and pointless, the reasons, as always, purely human ones.

Crockett normally pays around US $15 for a 4-pack of Duvel- the little bottles. It is the shipping that kills the price. Given the weight of those big bottles, there may be a "business opportunity" for VdB to hop a flight to North America and fill his suitcases with big Duvels plus put a few in his carry on.

Please forward the team code, as the Mrs. will select a team with the input of the kids, as they are not eligible. One thing you can count on, if my middle child is not shouted down, there will be at least 2 yanks on the roster.

Add to that the pages that NBOL spends talking about wine, and we have an alcohol dominated forum. Of course NBOL's best picks have occurred when he had at least sipped a glass or so.

Are the remainder protocol violations noticed by PBP?

Sadly, Penguin pays $6.25Cdn/stubby bottle of Duvel here and still, his beer store is routinely out of stock.

NBOL reminds Penguin. "You" is not a protocol violation. "My" is a violation. First person wrong. Second & third person okay.

Penguin stands corrected... Penguin's judgement is clouded by the ridiculous price of beer in his country...

Burkni is prepared to challenge PBP in that division. Find brands that are sold in both places, convert to a neutral currency (say EUR) and compare.
Burkni suggests that PBP have a quick scan through here to find a couple of brands he can buy locally (PBP is surely able to work a web-based search with pics, arrows and drop-down menus even though they are in a foreign language if it is about the sacred liquid :helmet: )

The "winner" will then be nominated: "Official ridiculous ITT beer-pricing victim"
