[Steve in ATL]

I will be watching all threads that floyd participates in with a VERY sharp eye. Please behave like adults so that I won't have to treat you like children. Moderation will be swift, and if I see anything that I consider to be disrespectful, it will be removed, and discussions with the moderation group as to penalties for such behavior WILL ensue. Have fun, interesting, but CIVIL and RESPECTUFUL conversations with floyd, as it is a priviledge to have him here.

The questions and other stuff have become too much for me to reply. Thank you all for the personal messages if I didn't get a chance to reply and sorry to the posters who I overlooked. I'll be fairly busy tomorrow but will try to answer what I can.

On that issue, I am sorry to those of you who did not get a reply. Thank you for all of the messages, I will reply to as many as possible.

Seeing as Floyd has commented now several times about how he's trying his best to get to all the questions and PM's (obviously has been inundated with PM's if his mailbox was full ), remember to stay patient if you don't get an answer right away . Thanks again, Floyd, for being here!

Going further along on what Steve wrote and my own opinion is:

floyd has signed on as a forum member and thus has member rights like everyone else. He has shown respect for others and should receive likewise in return. As for rule 2.2:

When debating a topic make sure that you focus on what is being said, not who is saying it. In short, debate the argument, not the person. Personal attacks when you are losing (or winning!) a debate aren't acceptable.

floyd's rights here (as a member) clash with him being (an athlete and thus a performer and thus) a legitimate topic of discussion. I will be resolving that clash by ensuring that any criticism of floyd is constructive or at least balanced. The exception is that more leeway will be given to topics that have titles that indicate that they are anti-Landis. In any case, I will take a dim view to any comments concerning Landis's family.

There has been no bargain made between Landis and the site owner with regards to the moderating. Landis is recovering from surgery and is preparing his defense against doping allegations and decided to pay us a visit. The only bargain posited that I'm aware of is:

You called it. Will and I have been reading these from the begining and while you guys are opinionated (as am I) we decided that, if given the info, you would be constructive. We'll call it the Wikipedia defense, and I would have given everything to you sooner but had a very hard time selling the idea to the lawyers.

That was proposed to all of the members.

A note here on libel. Libel shouldn't be an issue for this site as the members are encouraged to follow the forums rules and guidelines. Individuals trying to sneak something nasty past the moderators should read the following:
